Rules
CORNHOLE SWITCH LEAGUE FORMAT
- Players sign up individually for the switch league. A switch league is a fun and social twist on traditional Cornhole.
- We use the term "Switch" to emphasize the switch of your opponent and partner each game, each night! To clarify, this means you will have a different partner and opponent each game.
- Player rankings during a switch league are based on your winning percentage (the ratio of points won to total points possible).
- Each week, players will play 4 games.
- After the end of each match, the groups will submit their scores to the on-site league supervisor to update the rankings.
- The top players will make the playoffs.
- Players who miss three or more weeks in the switch will be ineligible for playoffs.
- Bags will be provided. Players may bring their bags.
SUBSTITUTION RULES
- This format is not designed for substitutions. If unforeseen circumstances take a player out of an incomplete game, we will look to fill with a "ghost" player within the League or with the help of our League Supervisor/ Coordinator.
BEGINNING OF THE GAME
Begin the game with a coin flip or play rock, paper, scissors between the two captains. The winner determines which side they would like to play on or first throw. The opponent will get the other option and then have the first choice in the second game. In the playoffs, the lower-seeded team has those privileges. Players may not cross the foul line, which is located at the front of the board. All players must throw from behind this line.LENGTH OF GAMES
Games are played "straight up" to 21 points; a team does not need to win by 2 or more points. A team does not need to score exactly 21 points and can go over 21. The results of each match are reported to the League Supervisor.SCORING
- Each bag that lands on the board is worth one point, and each bag that goes into the hole is worth three points.
- Only one player scores points in each frame. Each frame of a cornhole game is scored with what's called "subtraction scoring". This means whoever gets more points worth of bags in the frame is the only one who scores, and the player with the most points subtracts the player with the lower score's points from yours.
- The first team to 21 points wins.
- There are no busts.
FORFEIT POLICY
- If you are unable to attend you will not have scores trackable for each week/game you are not in attendance, the following rules apply: You will have a score of zero for every game you miss.
- After your 3rd offense, you will be removed from the league.
- If you know in advance that your team is going to forfeit a game, we encourage you to contact us at houston@sportskind.com.
- You have until ten minutes past the designated start time to check-in. If at that time you have not arrived, you forfeit your spot for that day. As a result, you will receive a score of 0 for the week.
OFFICIALS
- Cornhole is a self-officiated game. SPORTSKIND will provide a league coordinator to help with lane location, resolving disputes, and collecting scores.
SPORTSMANSHIP
- We enforce a “Zero Tolerance Policy” regarding the behavior of players, managers, and fans. Taunting, trash-talking, or abusive language will not be tolerated. Officials and league staff will have the right to reprimand or eject players, managers, or fans depending on the severity of the situation. Abusive behavior toward the official will not be tolerated. An ejection carries a one-game suspension (including the current game). In extreme cases, the player will be asked to leave the premises without a refund. The severity of the punishment will be based on the discretion of the official and league staff.
- You are allowed to approach the staff with questions or concerns in a respective manner. Teams charging the field of play to question or complain about a call will be subject to an automatic forfeit for that game.
- Any rules not covered or protests will be handled by the League Coordinator.
- There will be no refunds allowed for rain delays or cancellations. If the league is postponed due to weather, we will reschedule for a later date. There will be no refunds if you are not able to furnish a team on the makeup date.
- FIGHTING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. ANY INSTANCES OF FIGHTING MAY RESULT IN A TEAM FORFEITING THE LEAGUE WITHOUT REFUND AND POSSIBLE EXPULSIONS FROM FUTURE LEAGUE.
- ALL DECISIONS OF THE LEAGUE STAFF ARE FINAL. THE LEAGUE STAFF SHALL ALSO HAVE THE FINAL AUTHORITY TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO GAME SCHEDULES, AND GAME DURATION. AND OTHER ASPECTS OF THE RULES OR OF THE LEAGUE.
