Community & Social Media Manager (F/T)

The Role:

SPORTSKIND is looking for a combination Community Manager and Social Media Manager to join our growing team and help us achieve our next stage of rapid growth. The Community & Social Media Manager will use expert knowledge, data, analytics, and strong business acumen to concept, plan, and manage social media and communication campaigns to align with marketing strategies, drive member engagement, and nurture community.

This role will work cross functionally with our Chief Operating Officer and Media Operations Manager to enrich member experience, drive user engagement and content creation, and help actualize the SPORTSKIND brand vision through creative articulation and active dialogue with our members.

The Community & Social Media Manager will work in parallel – yet in concert with – the SPORTSKIND operations team which plans and executes leagues, tournaments, corporate wellness programs, social events, and other programming in order to develop a cohesive and consistent brand identity and communications voice across owned platforms, as well as to retain, attract, grow, engage and monetize audiences across all member/player touchpoints.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep, powerful understanding of our current members, target audience, and current (and future) products, then leverage that understanding to yield powerful, deep relationships with and amongst our community
  • Concept, plan, and manage social media and communication campaigns to align with marketing strategies, drive member engagement, and nurture community
  • Create, calendar, schedule, and deliver engaging text, image, video, and other content across all owned media channels
  • Respond to member comments and inquiries in a timely, professional, and on-brand manner
  • Proactively prompt/solicit engagement from SPORTSKIND members across all channels/touchpoints via engaging content, direct inquiry, etc
  • Represent and promote SPORTSKIND as a brand ambassador, community manager, and “face of the league”
  • Assist with the sales, coordination, and account management of SPORTSKIND’s sponsorship opportunities, as well as other brand partnerships.
  • Support and augment organizational efforts in service of charitable and philanthropic causes, including identifying objectives, designing systems, and planning campaigns for garnering support/involvement from our community of members

Skills/Must Haves:

  • Proven experience as a Community Manager, Social Media Manager, or both. Equivalent or translatable skills, knowledge, and experience also considered
  • Current knowledge of trending channels, platforms/tools, subject matters, content formats, etc,
  • Skills/experience with media capture and editing a plus
  • Prior experience with PR and promotional events a plus
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities; ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. There are many hats to wear!
  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Copywriting or content marketing writing experience preferred.
  • Outstanding “people” skills and a naturally social disposition
  • Self-starter who is able to think creatively and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.

  • Ability to work evenings and some weekends
